At Whole Foods Market, we value our relationships with farmers and ranchers, ensuring that we know exactly how the animals we source were raised. All beef, pork, chicken, lamb, and turkey (excluding kosher turkey) in our Meat department are certified by Animal Welfare standards, giving you confidence in the quality of the products you are purchasing and consuming.

What sets our Meat Department apart?

Direct traceability from farm to store. Through our traceable audit system, we are able to track the journey of each animal - from their time of birth on the farm or ranch to the shelves of our stores.

Zero tolerance for antibiotics. Animals treated with antibiotics are not permitted to be sold in our Meat department, guaranteeing that you are consuming meat that is free of any antibiotics.

Strict prohibition on growth hormones. We prohibit the use of added hormones in our Meat department, regardless of the method of administration - be it through feed, injections, or any other means.

No animal by-products in feed. Our commitment to quality extends to the feed that the animals consume, ensuring that no animal by-products, such as feather meal or rendered fat, are included in their diet.

In addition to these standards, we are proud to offer products like our Uncured Pasture Raised Beef Hot Dogs, GAP Step 4 Pasture Raised Beef, both of which are Animal Welfare Certified. Made in our family-owned and operated kitchens in Northern California, these products are also free of chemical nitrates, nitrites, gluten, soy, and dairy.
